He was at the end of his day
and had been doing what he normally did- Scripture, Song, Study.
That evening, at Aldersgate Chapel,
John Wesley's heart was changed.
In the morning he'd consulted the Bible- II Peter and Mark 12.
In the afternoon he'd listened to the choir at St. Paul's sing Psalm 113.
In the evening he attended a Bible Study at Aldersgate
where they read Martin Luther's Preface to the epistle of Romans.
While it was being read he said that God strangely warmed his heart.
He was following religious rules and trying hard. Then God gave it.
That evening the Spirit warmed his heart. It was so unexpected. Wesley felt led to
pray for those who were persecuting him and he found himself forgiving them.
When the wash of Christ's power like electricity moving through him made
Grace visual for him, the Spirit forged a bond- Christ with Wesley.
It was unmistakable.
I do not know when God will give it to you, I just know that he does give it,
when you immerse yourself in Scripture in the morning,
when you don headphones and visit YouTube for a Scriptural afternoon song,
when you participate in video Skype Bible Study at Alpha Church in the evening.
I know that God does that for others and He will do that for you. He will forge you with Christ too.
